Ph.D. Architecture From BIT Mesra, Ranchi

Candidates with following qualification shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. Program of the Institute:

1. Possessing M.Tech. / M.E. / M.Sc. (Engg.) / M.Arch. / M.Pharm. / M.S.(Pharm.)(only from NIPERs)/ M.Sc.(Pharm) / M. Plan./ M.Sc./ MCA / MBA or equivalent Degree in relevant branch from a recognized University/Institute with minimum 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA on a ten point scale in the qualifying examination are eligible to apply for admission in the relevant departments. Candidate appearing in the final semester may also apply, however they may have to produce the Final Degree and Marksheet lastest by 31^st August 2023.

2. Possessing B.Tech./B.E./B.Sc. (Engg.)/B.Pharm/B.Arch./B.Plan. or equivalent Degree in relevant branch from a recognized University/Institute with a minimum of 80% marks or 8.0 CGPA on a ten-point scale in the qualifying examination and a valid GATE/GPAT score with a minimum of   80   percentile are   eligible to apply for admission in the departments as per their Specialization.

Note: In this case, the candidates need to pass in more numbers of qualifying Pre- PhD papers. For detail refer Section 9.1 of Ph.D. Regulation 2018.

3. Sponsored candidates must have minimum of two years of professional work experience, in addition to the eligibility criteria (a or b). In addition, sponsored candidates should have valid sponsorship for at least three years.

RELAXATION FOR SC/ST CANDIDATES

Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks for SC / ST candidates.

Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra offers Ph.D. in sixteen specializations.

For admission to the Ph.D. program, candidate must be a holder of Master’s degree in the same/related field of research with a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.0 in the qualifying degree examination.

While the candidates who wish to pursue Ph.D. after B.Tech. / B.E. / B.Sc. (Engg.)/ B.Pharm / B.Arch. or equivalent degree must be GATE qualified (80+) and have a minimum of 70% marks in the qualifying degree examination. Candidate with ten-year of experience with good research credentials are eligible for admission.

Selection of the candidates is in two phases. In the first phase, candidates will be shortlisted for the selection rounds based on academic profile and work experience, In the second phase, candidates will have to attend the General aptitude test and Personal Interview conducted by the institute. 

The test shall contain 50 questions from analytical ability, logical reasoning and English Language. And 50 questions from the related subject. 

Key Points:

• Final evaluation of all the candidates will be done considering the overall performance of the candidates. Below table lists the minimum percentage required for the following parameters of each category of candidates

• SC/ST candidates are given relaxation of 5% marks.
• Candidates who have qualified UGC NET/CSIR NET/NBHM/DBT-JRF/GATE/GPAT are exempted from entrance test.
• Upto 20% of selected candidates for admission to the respective department may be allotted to part-time candidates depending upon their position in the merit list.
• Candidates must carry the following documents and report to the institute to complete their admission procedure:
  • Pass certificate and Marksheets of Class 10, 12, Graduation and Post graduation
  • College Leaving Certificate and Migration Certificate 
  • Work experience certificate
  • UGC-CSIR /DBT /BINC /ICMR-JRF / DST INSPIRE and all other similar all India fellowships
  • Caste certificate / special category certificate / PwD certificate (if applicable) 
  • Sponsorship letter & NOC
