JNU MA Eligibility Criteria

The minimum eligibility required for the MA program at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is 50% aggregate marks in the previous qualifying examination and 30% marks in the entrance examination conducted by the NTA for the JNU admissions.

The table below contains eligibility criteria for the major MA specializations offered at JNU:

MA in Economics	Bachelor’s degree in any discipline securing a minimum aggregate of 50 % marks, with familiarity with Mathematics at 10+2 level for admissions in M.A Economics program.
M.A. in Politics (with specialization in International Studies)	Applicants must have completed their bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 education pattern with a minimum aggregate of 50 % marks.
MA Arts and Aesthetics	Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 academic pattern. Applicants must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50 % marks to be eligible for admissions.
MA Sanskrit	Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Sanskrit or in any subject under 10+2+3 education pattern from any recognized Institute or University. Minimum aggregate of 45 % marks for admissions to M.A in Sanskrit.

JNU MA Admission Criteria

Candidates seeking admission to MA at JNU must clear the Common University Entrance Test (CUET PG) conducted by NTA. Admission shall be granted on the basis of performance in the CUET PG exam. The final selection will be based on the merit list released by the university.

Candidates applying for MA admission at JNU are required to apply for CUET PG on the official website. The application process is mentioned below:

Visit the official website - cuet.nta.nic.in.
On the homepage, click on the link that reads, 'Registration for CUET (PG) - 2023.'
Register yourself and then login using your credentials.
Fill in the application form, upload the documents
Pay the application fees and submit the form
Download and print a copy for future references.

Why you should come to JNU?

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have chosen this course because I have an interest in historical studies and also graduated in history Hons. Here we have imparted research oriented studies. The faculties take care of every individual student. The medium of instruction and exam is only English. There is a tutorial method for the overall development of students. There is a 10:1 ratio of students and teachers. The Faculties here are very supportive and are mostly senior professors. The University is very strict with its academic calendar. There is very much academic pressure and not any substitute for study.

JNU- an experience of a lifetime!

There are plenty of reasons why one would choose to pursue a Master's degree in English from JNU. Literature is about letting your imagination run wild & CES (Centre for English Studies) offers you this, through the unconventional teaching pattern followed here. The faculty members despite being among the best scholars throughout India, are still extremely approachable and engage with their students at a level that involves all, leaving no student behind. The faculty-student ratio is just perfect, one to one sessions are encouraged. The curriculum itself is very interesting, as compared to the curriculums of other institutions because it is interestingly customized for every fresher batch. This ensures that everything stays in the loop, from the canonical to the contemporary.

The Mesmerizing campus

The course I am studying is Spanish language and literature. They teach us about the Cultures of Spain and Latin America as well. We get to know about the language. They teach it all like oral, listening and writing as well. Overall the teachers are highly qualified and well student-friendly. They cooperate with students in every situation not only in their studies but in other fields also.

JNU: A Review of its Campus Life, Hostels, Facilities, and Opportunities.

I was interested in knowing more about the politics of the country, additionally, it was going to help me out with my UPSC optional. Though the faculty-student ratio has increased now, still professors are easily accessible to discuss. One can approach their chambers, also each student gets an academic advisor allotted. The faculty here is one of the best in the country, even overseas. That is the foremost reason why students want to be here. The teaching method is very impersonal, where Faculty itself has the power to design the syllabus and assess them as they want. The course is not easy, and rigorous and one should engage properly in the readings to write good answers and develop a deep understanding. Centre for political studies (CPS) takes two mid-semester exams and one end-semester exam in a semester.

JNU: CHS is in main focus.

CHS is the best department for doing master's and PhD in history in India. Historians like Bipin Chandra, Romila Thapar, and Aditya Mukherjee have been faculty members here so did a master's here has always been my dream. There is 1 professor for every 7-10 students in master's. there are two tutorial+discussions instead of term papers which accumulate 50 marks and one end sem exam takes place for every course for 50 marks.

Department of sociology is named as Centre for the study of the social system i.e. CSSS. As the name suggests it is the centre for the study which means both students and Teachers will learn. CSSS is counted in the top 50 departments of sociology in the world. We have superb faculty including Prof. Surinder Singh Jodhka, professor Abhijit Pathak, Prof. V Sujata, and some foreign-trained Professors like Ratheesh Sir and Divya mam. We have almost 15-20 professors and all are well-trained in their discipline. Most of them have completed their degree from CSSS. As the course has 4 semesters, you have to appear for the end-semester exam. To be eligible for the end-semester exam, you have to submit some term papers and presentations. But it's not "halwa" at all. You have to work hard, attend classes, and submit term papers and other formalities. You have to read articles and explore books. Unless and until you will not submit the assignment you can't sit for the end semester exam.
