VNIT Nagpur BTech Admission 2024 registrations are underway. The institute offers a 4-year duration BTech program as a flagship course at the UG level. VNIT Nagpur BTech admission is based on the JEE Mains score followed by the JoSAA counselling. For admission to the B. Tech program candidates must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent stream from a recognized Board with a minimum of 75% marks for general category candidates and with a minimum of 65% marks for SC / ST / OBC / PH category candidates. Applicants must have appeared in the JEE Mains exam.

Candidate must lock their choices before the last date. If choices are not locked, they will be locked automatically.
Candidates can check their allotment status as per the schedule for announcement of seat allotment by logging in to the official portal.

Program Structure

The institution follows a semester system and Engineering has a total of 8 semesters.
Each course except a few special courses, has a specific number of credits assigned to it depending on lecture, tutorial, and laboratory contact hours in a week.
A minimum grade point average is mandatory to be maintained for satisfactory progress and continuation in the program.
A minimum of 170 credit points is required to qualify for the degree. Applicants can visit this link for detailed credit distribution.
Students can choose their electives on their own.
Students can apply for internships in the 3rd year, which will help for better placements.
Students can also attend Implant training and participate in the different symposiums for better placement opportunities.
Generally, [placement training will be started in the pre final year.
Attendance: Students must have 75% of attendance to get qualified for a degree certificate.
Registration: The registration process ensures that the student's name is on the roll number list of each course that he/she wants to study. My experience in VNIT.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because of decent placements and nonhectic workdays in college. The faculty will be very amazing and supportive in the course, helping you in every situation in college. The student ratio is about 80:20 with lesser girls. All the professors are Ph.D. qualified and had experience of approx. 10 years. The teaching method is greatly understandable and easy to analyze. Talking about the exams so, the mid-term exam would be there of 30% weightage approx., and an Endsem exam at the end of a semester consists of 50% weightage, and 20% internals would be there. No need to study like a machine or like in your preparation, just revise for 1 hour or less a day and prepare well in the last 5 to 10 days before exams and will score good marks

Everything you want to know about VNIT

I chose the Electrical and Electronics department because it is one of the two branches that have both opportunities in the field of core engineering and the IT sector. So one has both the gates open to him/her and can choose the one which he finds more interest in. So in our department, there are about 25 professors and several lab instructors/coordinators. Professors here are highly qualified and many of them are still engaged in doing several research in their free time. So we get to learn about their current projects and even get involved in them. From this year onwards, i.e., 2023, there will be two exams known as Mid sem and End sem. They're not that difficult to pass. One can even score good marks in them if one works hard. Some professors, however, are keen on failing some students, so have to be a bit careful about that.

VNIT College Review

I chose this branch because it is a higher branch. A large number of companies are coming for internships & placements for this branch compared to other lower branches (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, etc.). Institute has excellent faculty staff. Almost all have a degree of PhD/Mtech in a particular field. Most of the professors are using projectors & ppt presentations for teaching. Each branch has almost 110-120 students except the Mining Engineering branch which has only 35-40 students. Up to Last semester, the exam pattern was 2 sessionals & 1 end sem exam. But from now onwards, it will be 1 midterm exam & 1 end sem exam.

The course curriculum for Chemical Engineering includes subjects like fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, chemical reaction engineering, mass transfer phenomena, reactor designing, etc. The faculty members are well qualified and have good knowledge of the subject, but in college, no one pays attention to the lectures and so it's all about that last day of study to pass the exams. There are 2 sessional examinations and one end sem exam, the papers set are difficult to moderate with about 40-50% of questions from the previous 5-year papers, so one can easily pass by studying this much.

Good internship opportunities

I chose chemical engineering because I was good in physics and chemistry, and there are a total of 17 faculty members in the chemical eng department from which 6 of them teach us each semester and one class has around 100 students professors are very qualified and most of them teach good but not all of them, even one of our professor was named among top 2% chemical engineering scientist by Stanford and we have three exams in one-semester session 1,2 pf 15-15 marks and end sem 50-60 marks and 10-20 are of internals which includes assignments, tests, quizzes, attendance, etc most of the teachers give decent marks and you can get a past even if you study a week before exams
