Kumaraguru College of Technology was established in 1984 and located in the outskirts of Coimbatore. Kumaraguru College of Technology, shortly known as KCT is an autonomous, self-financing engineering college. 

The college is affiliated to Anna University and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). All courses offered by KCT have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of the University Grants Council (UGC). 

The college offers 14 undergraduate programs (BE and B.Tech) and 15 postgraduate programs (MCA, MBA, M.Tech, ME) in departments like Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Information Science and Engineering, Science and Humanities etc. 

The college also has 9 recognized research programs, some of which are Electronics and Communication Engineering, Textile Technology, Computer Science and Engineering, Physics and Chemistry. 

Applications for all courses in KCT can be submitted through the online portal as well as in person. Admissions are done based on the scores of the entrance exam conducted by the college and the merit of the 10+2/ equivalent qualifying exams.

Kumaraguru College of Technology Coimbatore Admission

Admissions for all courses are done based on merit and the marks scored on the respective entrance exam. 

Admissions to B.E. and B.Tech programs will be based on JEE Mains or TNEA score. 

Admissions to M.E., M.Tech, MBA, and MCA will be based on TANCET or GATE scores.

Admission to Ph.D. programs will be based on the national level entrance exam followed by Personal Interview. 

Candidates meeting the following eligibility criteria only are eligible to apply.

TNEA Eligibility:

  • Students from Tamil Nadu, who have passed Classes 8 to 12 are eligible to apply, with an exemption of children of Central Government Employees and children of All India Service Tamil Nadu cadre officers.
  • Candidates must have reached 17 years of age at the time of admission.
  • Maximum age limit for applying is 25 years.

TANCET Eligibility:

  • MBA aspirants must have completed their graduation. For TANCET MCA, students must have mathematics as a subject in graduation level or in 10+2.
  • Candidate must have secured at least 50 per cent marks (open category) and 45 per cent(reserved category) in the Bachelor’s degree exam
  • There are no age restrictions for TANCET.

How to Apply?

  • It is mandatory for students to attempt the TNEA exam and the TANCET (depends on course). To apply, download and fill the form available on the official website of TNEA and TANCET.
  • After the results of the entrance exams are announced, all candidates are required to download and fill the application form of the college, available on the official website.
  • Upon applying, students will have to pay a registration fee of INR 500 (for general category) and INR 250 (for SC/ ST/ MBC/ DNA categories).
  • Selections are done based on TNEA counselling for undergraduate courses and TANCET counselling for postgraduate courses conducted by Anna University.
  • Admissions for PhD courses are done twice every year by Anna University, Chennai. To pursue research studies, students should contact the respective in charge of the department.
  • Students are mandated to have the required documents mentioned below at all times during admission.

  • Mahatma Gandhi Merit Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to over 1000 KCT students who have excelled in merit, perseverance and achievement.
  • Achiever’s Award: This award is awarded to students who excel in academics, co-curricular, extra-curricular, leadership and research focus.   • Auditorium: KCT has a huge auditorium with a seating capacity of 1800. The auditorium also has centralized air conditioning.
  • Mahatma Gandhi Central Library: The library is spread over an area of 16945 sq. feet. The library has a huge compilation of books owning 67598 titles and 107534 volumes and has a subscription to 186 print journals, 8829 online international journals and 59 magazines.
  • Seminar Halls: There are four air-conditioned seminar halls each with a seating capacity of 250 located at the administrative building, Dr Mahalingam Vigyan Bhavan. They are named Dr Vikram Sarabhai, Dr C.V. Raman, Sir M. Visvesvaraya and Swami Vivekananda.
  • Computing Infrastructure: KCT has a huge number of personal computers with high-end processors manufactured by Dell, HP, Lenovo and Zenith. The 1st year Computer Lab has 120 PCs that are used for acquiring basic computing skills. The language lab employs 45 computers and the Centralized Computer-Aided Design Lab (CAD) has about 120 personal computers.
  • Medical Center: Aruljothi Medical Centre on the campus is an eight bedded hospital with two doctors and nursing assistants. Patients requiring specialized treatment are sent to the nearest multi-speciality hospitals with which the institution has tie-up.
  • Cafeteria: The campus cafeteria is available to the students and staff. There are three other smaller cafes and refreshment outlets inside the campus. The cafeteria provides quality vegetarian food, bakery items and fresh juices.
  • Transport: The College has a fleet of buses, vans and cars to transport students and staff from different places in and around Coimbatore to college and back. These buses operate along different routes starting from different locations approximately between 6.30 and 6.45 a.m. At present 13 buses, 4 minibuses and 1 van are used.
