How to Download GATE 2023 Response Sheet?

Before downloading GATE 2023 Response sheet candidates need to keep a few things in mind. These include- 

  • GATE 2023 Response Sheet is only accessible to registered candidates. 
  • If you have registered but have not appeared for the examination then you can’t download the response sheet. 
  • The response sheet is available only after the successful login through GOAPS whereas answer keys will be available for all at the official portal.

GATE 2023 response sheet of a candidate is comprised of the responses entered by the candidate in the exam. Other than that, more information or details are also present on GATE response sheet. In case of any kind of discrepancy in the details mentioned in your response sheet, you should report it immediately to the concerned authorities. GATE 2023 Marking Scheme

  • Each question in GATE 2023 is for 1 or 2 marks.
  • As per the marking scheme of GATE for all 29 disciplines, NATs and MSQs do not have any negative marking. 
  • However, for 1 mark MCQ, 1/3 marks will be deducted for incorrect answers and for 2 mark MCQ, 2/3 marks will be deducted for incorrect answers. 
  • The total marks are 100.

Formula to Calculate Score using GATE Response Sheet

  • First of all check or compare your responses with the answer key released by the authorities. 
  • Then separate the 1 and 2 marks questions. Also separate the NAT, MSQs and MCQs to avoid any confusion while calculating the score. 
    • In Case of MCQs:
      • Total Marks = (1 x Total Number of Correct Answers) – (1/3 x Total Number of Incorrect Answers)
      • Total Marks = (2 x Total Number of Correct Answers) – (2/3 x Total Number of Incorrect Answers​)
    • In Case of NATS:
      • Total Marks = (1 x Total Number of correct answers of 1 mark) + (2 x Total Number of correct answers of 2 marks)
    • In Case of MSQs:
      • Total Marks = (1 x Total Number of correct answers of 1 mark) + (2 x Total Number of correct answers of 2 marks)
  • Total Marks: Total Marks in MCQs + Total Marks in MSQs + Total Marks in NATs

GATE consists mostly of numerical questions. It tests the aptitude for solving questions in less time. BITS HD papers have 10-15 numerical questions usually. The numerical questions aren’t on the same level as GATE and are just formula-based problems. Usually, around 80-90% of BITS HD questions are theory oriented.
