  • Timings: 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
  • Difficulty Level: Moderate
  • General Aptitude Section was easy.
  • Maths section was tough in comparison to last year.
  • Conceptual questions from Design Topics
  • 10 Marks questions were asked from Fluid Mechanics
  • 20+ questions from Numerical Ability. These questions were time taking and lengthy.
  • 2 questions from Vibration Section were tricky
  • 2 or 1 questions from Trusses, Metrology, Forming, Sheet Metal, Convention, Radiation, Heat Exchanger and LMTD.

  • Difficulty Level: Moderate to Difficult
  • Candidates found General Aptitude Section to be very easy.

GATE 2019 ME Paper Analysis- Forenoon Session

  • Session 1 (Forenoon): 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
  • GATE ME Difficulty Level: Easy to moderate
  • As per the students, the General Aptitude section had easy and direct questions.
  • On the technical side, the Math section had about 8 questions (4Qs were of 1 mark and 4Qs. were of 2 marks) and about 47 questions were from ME branch.
  • There were about 26 questions in NAT section. 10 questions were of 1 mark and 16 questions of 2 marks. They were a bit lengthy and evaluated the candidate’s concepts.

  • Session 2 (Afternoon): 2:30 pm – 5: 30 pm
  • GATE ME Difficulty Level: Moderate to difficult and tricky as well
  • As per the students, the General Aptitude section had some difficult questions.
  • On the technical side, the Math section had about 8 questions and about 32 questions were from ME branch.
  • There were about 32 questions in NAT section. 6 questions more than the morning session. As there were more questions in this section, managing the time became a task for the aspirants.
