NEET Eligibility for AIIMS and JIPMER is that the candidate should complete 17 years of age as on December 31, 2023. Only eligible candidates can fill NEET Application forms 2023 soon after the release of official notification. 


AIIMS Eligibility Criteria

AIIMS MBBS Eligibility Criteria 2023

  • AIIMS MBBS entrance test has been scrapped by the MHRD in 2019, making NEET mandatory for all admission into all medical colleges for MBBS.
  • Candidates who are still looking forward to the AIIMS MBBS admission will have to appear for NEET 2023. Their candidature for the test will be considered on NEET 2023 eligibility guidelines. However, for admission purposes, students are required to fulfill the eligibility criteria of both NEET and AIIMS MBBS.

Important Points for AIIMS MBBS Eligibility:

  • Candidates who have or are appearing at the qualifying examination and expect to pass at the required percentile will be considered eligible after furnishing proper documents of the qualifying examination.
  • Furnished certificate should be from the concerned Indian University/Association of Indian Universities to the effect that the examination passed by the candidate is considered eligible equivalent to Class 12 under 10+2 scheme/immediate science examination.

AIIMS MBBS 2023 Eligibility: Academic Qualification

  • Aspiring medical candidates should have passed Class 12 under the 10+2 scheme/senior school certificate examination or an equivalent examination from a recognised University/Board from any state.
  • Candidates should have English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the main subjects.

AIIMS MBBS 2023 Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

  • To apply for AIIMS MBBS 2023, a candidate is required to be a citizen of India. However, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) aspirants, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) aspirants, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Foreign nationals are also eligible to appear for UG entrance exam.

AIIMS MBBS 2023 Eligibility Criteria: For Foreign Nationals

  • There are 7 seats reserved for foreign nationals in addition to total seats in AIIMS, New Delhi only.
  • Such aspirants will be nominated by the Government of India and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in their Immediate Science.

JIPMER Eligibility Criteria

JIPMER MBBS Eligibility Criteria 2023

Candidates aspiring for JIPMER are now required to appear for NEET 2023. However, it is necessary for all candidates to keep in mind that they need to abide by the eligibility criteria of both JIPMER MBBS 2023 and NEET 2023 to get a seat in the institute.

Important Points for JIPMER MBBS Eligibility:

  • Candidates who wish to apply for JIPMER but are waiting for their final results will be considered eligible only if they are able to fulfil all other mentioned eligibility criteria. However, their final eligibility will be ensured only after declaration of Class 12 results.
  • Candidates of class 12 whose results are awaited should not consider issuance of Admit Card as an assurance of eligibility.
  • As per JIPMER eligibility criteria 2023, students from general category and EWS are required to secure at least 50% marks combined in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Students from reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) are required to score 40% marks. Other details like nationality, academic requirements, age limit and other mandatory details are provided below.

JIPMER Eligibility Criteria 2023: Overview

JIPMER 2023 Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

  • To seek admission under JIPMER 2023, a candidate must be a citizen of India or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or National Residents of India (NRI).
  • OCI and NRI candidates are required to upload the necessary documents while filling the application form. Such candidates will only be considered for ‘unreserved’ category seats.

JIPMER Eligibility Criteria 2023: Age Limit

  • All aspiring candidates applying for JIPMER MBBS 2022 must be of at least 17 years of age on or before December 31, 2023.
  • According to JIPMER eligibility criteria, there is no upper age limit for the entrance exam. However, there will also be no relaxation in the lower age limit given to any candidate under any circumstances, irrespective of his/her category. 

JIPMER 2023 Eligibility Criteria: Academic Requirements

  • It is required for all aspiring candidates of JIPMER to pass the qualifying examination of Class 12 or an equivalent exam. The candidates should have Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology as essential subjects in the last two years of study along with English as a core subject.
  • Candidates who will be applying under OCI & NRI quota and have not completed class 12 from the country will have to submit an Eligibility Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.
  • Going by the JIPMER MBBS 2023 eligibility criteria, the qualifying marks have been decreased for each category.
  • Also, the addition of EWS (Economically Weaker Section) has been made. For the Unreserved and EWS category, minimum marks have been decreased from 60% to 50%, while for SC/ST/OBC/PwD and Unreserved-PwD candidates, it is 40% and 45%, respectively.

JIPMER 2023 Categories Description

Unreserved Category

  • UR means a candidate who is an Indian national satisfying the eligibility criteria as prescribed by the Medical Council of India and not falling in any other reserved category.

Other Backward Classes (NON-Creamy Layer)

  • OBC-NCL applicants are required to ensure that they do not belong to the persons/sections of Creamy Layer as recognized by the Government of India, Department of Personnel & Training.
  • Certificates that will be required to be produced during counselling should NOT be older than 1 year on date of first counseling.

Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe

  • Candidates falling under these categories will be required to produce the necessary certificates in the format provided supporting their claims. 

Orthopedic Physically Challenged (OPH)

  • The candidates must possess a valid document certifying his/her physical disability conforming to judgment of the Supreme Court of India.

Union Territory Specific Eligibility for Reservation

Puducherry – Unreserved

(P-UR): A candidate is considered to belong to the UT of Puducherry (P-UR) if he/she satisfies at least one of the following domicile criteria.

  • Those candidates or whose parent (either mother or father or both) or Guardian (in the case of children who have lost both parents) has been residing continuously in this Union territory for at least five years immediately preceding the date of application.
  • Candidates who have passed SSLC/HSC or any other public examination and for that purpose had undergone academic studies continuously for 5 successive classes immediately preceding the qualifying examination (including the year of the qualifying examination) in recognized education institutions (s) located in Puducherry Union Territory and having their residence in the Puducherry Union Territory for 5 years continuously during that period.
  • Children whose parents are Central Government Servants, State Government Servants, Defence Personnel, Central Paramilitary Forces, Employees of Public Sector Undertakings posted and serving in the Puducherry Union Territory for at least a minimum continuous period of three years immediately prior to the last date of submission of application.
  • Children of the above said employees should have studied in the Higher Secondary Course of two years in any of the schools in the U.T. of Puducherry and should have also passed the Higher Secondary Examination from the same school.
  • Children of Defence Personnel who were killed or disabled in action and who have declared Puducherry as their hometown.

Puducherry Other Backward Classes

  • P-OBC means a candidate who satisfies the aforementioned definitions of categories (OBC) as well as (Puducherry Unreserved).

Puducherry Scheduled Caste

  • P-SC means a candidate who satisfies the aforementioned definitions of categories (SC) as well as (Puducherry Unreserved)

Puducherry Orthopedic Physically Challenged

  • P-OPH means a candidate who satisfies the aforementioned definition of categories (OPH) as well as (Puducherry Unreserved)
