How to Apply for NEET 2020?

CBSE has released the application form for NEET on February 8, 2018. The national level exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 6, 2018. Candidates can fill NEET 2018 Application Form only on the official website where they will have to first register themselves. Check Latest Notification Released for NEET 2018. There is no offline process for filling the form. Here is a step wise explanation of the process.

About NEET 2019
The HRD Minister of India has appointed National Testing Agency as the coordinating body of NEET and JEE Main from next year onwards.  Starting from 2019, NTA will organise NEET and JEE Main twice a year in online mode (computer-based test) only. NEET 2019 will be conducted in the month of February and May 2019. The syllabus, question formats, language and fees for NEET or JEE Main exams will not be changed. Know more

Step 1- Registration

  1. Visit the official website www.cbseneet.nic.in and click on the ‘New Registration’ link.
  2. Read the instructions carefully and click on ‘Apply Online’.
  3. You will be redirected to the Registration page where you will have to fill in your personal details like Name, Parents’ Name, Category, Email ID, Phone No.
  4. Once you’ve filled in all the fields, click on the ‘Submit’ button.
  5. After submitting the registration form, you will be redirected to a new page to create your password and select a security question for your account, in case you forget your password. You will also have to punch in the OTP that will be sent to your mobile number.
  6. You will receive a registration number after the successful completion of this process which will be used for future log ins along with your password.

For candidates who have already registered on the site.

If the candidates have already registered on the website but haven’t yet filled the Application Form, they can follow these steps to log in to their NEET account.

  1. Visit the official website for NEET.
  2. Under the ‘Online Services’ section, click on ‘Candidate Login’.
  3. Enter your Registration No. and Password.
  4. Click on ‘Login’.

Retrieving your NEET Password:

In case candidates forget their password, they have the option to generate a new one. Follow these steps to reset your NEET Password.

  1. Visit the official website for NEET.
  2. Under the ‘Online Services’ section, click on ‘Candidate Login’.
  3. Click on ‘Forgot Password’.
  4. You can reset your password in 3 ways- through OTP, through Security Question and through mobile no. and email id.
  5. Enter your details like registration no., name, date of birth and enter the security pin displayed below.
  6. Click on submit.
  7. You will be redirected to a new page where you can enter your new password for future use.

Step 2- Fill NEET 2018 Application form

  1. Fill in your personal details like Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality.
  2. Choose your medium of Question Paper and three choices of NEET 2018 Examination Centers.
  3. Enter your Academic details, Residential Address and Details of Parents.
  4. Review all the details to check for any errors and once you’re done click on ‘Final Submit’.

Note: Once you click on ‘Final Submit’, you will not be allowed to change any details. The details entered here will be found in your Admit Card as well. Therefore, candidates are advised to review their NEET 2018 application form carefully.


Step 3- Upload documents

You will be asked to upload a scanned copy of your passport sized photograph and signature to complete the application procedure for NEET. Candidates must keep in mind the Specifications for uploading photograph and other documents for NEET

Rules for Uploading Photograph and Signature

  • The passport sized photograph should have the candidate’s name and the date of taking the photograph, which should be after January 1, 2018. The photo should be taken against a white background.

  • The signature should be made with a blue or black pen on a white background.

Step 4- Submit Application Fee

Candidates must choose their preferred mode of payment from the following available options:

  • UPI App
  • Debit/Credit Card of any bank
  • Net Banking of any bank
  • E-Wallet

Follow the instructions given on the website carefully to pay the application fee. Candidates must also check NEET 2018 Application Fee before the payment.

Note: In addition to examination fee, service/processing charges will also be paid by the candidate along with Service Tax, for online fee payment. After submission of application fee, the form cannot be withdrawn. Any claims for refund of application fee will not be entertained.


Step 5- Confirmation Page

  • If your application status shows ‘Confirmed’, it means your application has been accepted by NEET authorities.
  • Candidates can take a print out of their application form after this.
  • Candidates are advised to take a printout of the confirmation page as well for reference.

Details Required for filling the Application form

Candidates will be required to fill the following details in their Application form.

  1. Candidate’s Name
  2. Date of Birth
  3. Gender
  4. Mother and Father’s Name
  5. Nationality
  6. Self Declaration Form (To be downloaded from Appendix- III of the Information Bulletin)
  7. Category
  8. Aadhar No.
  9. District of Birth
  10. Father/Mother/Guardian’s Occupation, Education, Total Salary
  11. Question Paper Language
  12. Whether you’re the only child of your parents
  13. Year of passing/appearing for class XII exam
  14. Marks/Grade in class XII
  15. Type of institution of class XII
  16. Whether you belong to rural/urban area
  17. State to which you belong
  18. Qualifying exam code (Refer to chapter 3 of the Information Bulletin)
  19. School Education Board (Refer to Appendix VII)
  20. Choice of Examination Centre (Refer to Appendix II)

NEET 2018 FAQs

Ques. Can we submit the application form for NEET offline?

Ans. No. Submission of the Application form and payment of Application fee can be done only online. For any kind of assistance regarding the filling, submission of payment of fee for application form, candidates can contact the nearest Common Services Center.

Ques. Can we attach the photo without name and date printed on it?

Ans. It is mandatory to have the candidate’s name and date of clicking the picture on the passport sized photograph. Take multiple copies of the photograph since the same will be required for the Admit Card and throughout the admission process.

Ques. If a candidate is not appearing for the exam, can the application fee be refunded?

Ans. No. The Application Fee is non refundable, irrespective of whether the candidate sits for the exam or not.

Ques. Can OCI candidates appear for NEET 2018 if they don’t have an Aadhar Card?

Ans. Yes. For such candidates, Passport details will be required instead of Aadhar Card.

Ques. I have failed in one subject but my average is above 50%, Can I apply?

Ans. No, if you have failed in one subject you cannot apply.

Ques. I am an NRI in Dubai and how can I apply for general seat for NRI?

Ans. NRI candidates are eligible to apply for a general seat. They can also apply for All India Quota. The ID Proof required would be their passport.

Ques. My name on Aadhaar card is different than that on the 12th mark sheet, will I face a problem for verification or not?

Ans. The name should match on both documents.

Ques. Are foreign nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Non Resident Indians (NRIs) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) candidates eligible to apply for 15% all India quota seats?

Ans. Yes, all foreign nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Non Resident Indians (NRIs) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) candidates are eligible to apply for 15% all India quota seats. They will have to show their passport No. as ID Proof.

Ques. If a candidate has appeared in state as well as institutional level exams three times, but hasn't appeared in AIPMT/NEET even once, will they be eligible to appear for the exam?

Ans. Yes, if a candidate has never appeared for AIPMT/NEET, then they can avail a maximum of three chances to appear in NEET provided they also fulfil the upper age limit criteria.

Ques. I live outside India and do not possess an Aadhaar Card, Can I apply for the exam?

Ans. Candidates outside India may apply using their passport number.

Ques. I have recently submitted the request for update in their Aadhaar details due to some error, can I fill my application form with the old Aadhaar number?

Ans. Yes, you can apply for NEET. While submitting the updating details, the Aadhaar center also issues a 14 digit Aadhaar enrollment ID/UR number printed on the slip. You will be required to enter this new number.

Ques. When will NEET 2018 application form be available?

Ans. The application form for NEET 2018 is expected to be available from January 2018. The entire application procedure will be conducted online.

Ques. Is it permissible to change or retrieve the password of NEET application form? How?

Ans. Yes. It is possible to retrieve the password of NEET. In case a candidate forgets the password, he/she can retrieve the same through the following steps:

Through OTP (One Time Password) on Registered Mobile Number: Candidates will need to enter their ‘Registration Number’, ‘Candidate’s Name’ and ‘Date of Birth’.

Answering the Security Question set while registering: Candidate can also retrieve the password by answering a bunch of security question.

Forgot Mobile number and Email ID: In order to retrieve the password through this method, candidates will need have to enter personal details.

Ques. How can I fill the application form and pay the application fee if I don’t have any access to internet?

Ans. CBSE will be employing the help of ‘Common Service Centers’ or ‘Facilitation Centers’ through which candidates who don’t have an access to internet can fill and submit their application forms of NEET 2018. Candidates who fill NEET 2018 application form through Common Service Centers will be required to pay the application fee of NEET 2018 through e-wallets. A nominal fee will be charged for every service.

Ques. How to calculate your age for application?

Ans. You can calculate your age through online Age Calculator for NEET 2018. The age calculator gives your age as per your DOB and the date on which you want to calculate. Set the date December 31, 2018 for the date you want to calculate the age.

Ques. What is the application fee category wise?

Ans. For General/OBC Category- Rs. 1400/-

For SC/ST/PH Category- Rs. 750/-

Ques. Are Spectacles allowed in the photograph being affixed on the form?

Ans. Spectacles are allowed if being used regularly.
