Remarks :

College is a really nice place to be in. The students are very lovely, the seniors are very friendly, professors with all their experience and knowledge are great, the college staffs are very easygoing but the college management is a bit hardshell to crack. For any small work you need to e-file it to the principal and who knows when he would reply to that. Till that time your work gets stuck. The college fees should not include extra charges which are not necessary.

Admission :

If I'll talk about why I opted this course, the answer would be that Maths was my second option, first was Economics Honours but i didi not get through the interview of economics but got through Mathematics one so yeah I'm in Mathematics now. For the students Mathematics is also a good course to join for but yeah if you are only interested in the application part of Maths then do talk to a Mathematics Honours senior before opting this course. Why did I choose this college? the answer would be who would not choose St. Stephen's, its one fo the oldest and prestigious institute of India. According to me we don't choose this college the college chooses us(PS: Our Principal's favourite dialogue is " You are the CHOSEN once" :)).I got into this college through Christian quota as this is a minority institution. For the admission process we first have to register ourself to the Delhi University registration form as this college is under DU. Then you have to fill the St. Stephen's college's admission form which you can get on their website. After that, their will be a separate cut off for St. Stephen's College which will be published on their website. The cut off will have the percentage cut off for different stream and different category students. Then according to your cutoff you have to apply for the courses that you want to opt and also see whether you clear the cut off for those courses in the cut off list. Then, their will be the interview for each of the courses you have applied for (PS: The interviews tend to take a long time sometimes it goes till 2:00 A.M. in the mornings). They ask you questions about the coarse that you have applied for and also if you have applied through christian quota then you will have some biblical questions too. Then there will be a final Merit List that will be released this also will be there on the college website and this will also have some students names who have been put in waiting list, don't be disheartened if your name is there in the waiting list as the previous year most of the waiting list students got through and many of them are my friends. So yeah this is the admission procedure.

Ques. What are the best subjects to study in St. Stephens, Hindu College and Hansraj College?

● Top Answer By Arita Chaterjee on 03 Nov 21

Ans. The best courses offered by colleges depend on various parameters. Some of these parameters are faculty base, effective working of the department, placement opportunities provided by the institute, etc. I have a few friends from St. Stephens, Hindu College, and Hansraj College.  According to them, here are some of the courses that are quite reputed in these colleges.  Hansraj College - B.Com (Hons), Geology (Hons), History (Hons) St. Stephen's College - Economics (Hons), History (Hons), English (Hons) Hindu College - B.Com (Hons), Political Science (Hons), Economics (Hons) Hope this clears your doubts. Read more

Ques. Should I do BA programme from St. Stephens or English honours from JMC?

● Top Answer By Sugandhi Roy on 29 Oct 21

Ans. I have friends from both St. Stephens and JMC. Here are a few of the information that I got from them.  St. Stephens is a prestigious college with its own sets of rules and code of conduct. It has a good campus. If you want to explore ideas, places and have a decent campus life then St. Stephens is a great option. JMC is an off-campus college. So, you won’t have access to campus. It is a girl’s college with strict rules.  Now coming to the courses, in English honors, you will learn about a myriad of texts from different countries and different time periods. However, you will have to spend your three years around poetry and prose. You won’t get to experience much diversity when it comes to subjects. For the BA program, however, you can choose all subjects from Social Science. There are many combinations that you can opt for.  So, I will suggest that you choose the program which will keep you interested for the next three years. College life will be similar irrespective of the institute. Also, gone are the days when students with honors degrees were treated superior to the students who pursued programs. Read more

Ques. What is the worst thing about St Stephens College Delhi University?

● Top Answer By Gaurang Sharma on 26 Oct 21

Ans. Getting a seat at St. Stephens College is a dream for every student but it is an impossible task. One of the worst things can be bribery and discrimination for admission to this prestigious college. Apart from this, the following can also be some more reasons: The college has strict guidelines for female students and imposes a curfew after 10 PM. There is no restriction for male students and they can have as much fun. St. Stephen’s favors Malayali students and the college administration easily admits them. The food at the mess is neither tasty nor good. You can easily have the food from outlets outside the campus. You cannot issue more than 3 books from the library and have to return them in a week. Whereas, colleges like Ramjas give 6 books for 15 days. The fests at St. Stephen’s College are extremely boring and you will not enjoy them. Regardless of these disadvantages, St. Stephen’s is incomparable in terms of academics and the crowd.Read more

Ques. Which one is more prestigious, a B.A.L.L.B from NLSIU, Bangalore, a B.Tech from IIT or an Arts degree from St. Stephen's College, DU?

● Top Answer By Tiyasa Saini on 28 Sept 21

Ans. These are three very different fields that can not be compared with each other whatsoever. Each of them is prestigious in itself. They can not be put in an order. Still, here are some basic points worth mentioning. If earning a decent amount of money is your ultimate goal, it is suggested that you go for IIT, as it will provide you with the most straightforward career path. If you aspire to be in a powerful or influential position, you can opt for NLSIU. But this will require immense hard work and practical training. If you want to study in a popular institution and their brand value interests you more, go for IIT. If you are competent enough, you can opt for NLSIU, as it is claimed to be tougher than the IITs as well. A more important question that you should ask yourself is “What does my interest lie in?” The way you pursue the course will decide its worth then. You should make sure that you flourish in whatever you do and build a good career out of it.Read more

Ques. Should I choose NIT Rourkela for an Integrated Msc in Physics or a Bsc in Physics at St. Stephen’s Delhi, St. Xavier’s or Presidency University Kolkata?

● Top Answer By Ruchi Singh on 13 Jul 21

Ans. All the newly established colleges are doing as well too as the older established colleges. So, choosing any among NIT Rourkela, St. Stephen’s Delhi, St. Xavier’s, or Presidency University Kolkata would be a boon for you. But, it is suggested that you go to St Stephen’s College Delhi. One of my friends studied there and according to him, it was really good. The crowd in the national capital is really good. The faculty of the department is well qualified and highly reputed. One recommendation letter from a professor here could land you in a nice university abroad, for your future endeavors. You can also apply for scholarships and each worthy student has the opportunity of getting a number of awards. The campus so far is well maintained and only around 1200 students are present in the college. Lesser people compared to other Delhi University colleges. Furthermore, there are multiple societies and you get a lot of time to do studies and have a platform for various extracurricular activities. Though Integrated M.Sc according to me is not a very suitable option as you will be fixed to one place for a long 5 years but again your plans may change once to get more exposure and get to know other opportunities available to you. So think wisely before settling down.Read more
