What students say about Delhi University - [DU]

Likes

  • B.com (Hons) is one of the best courses for commerce students after XII; the faculty-student ratio is 40:1.
  • Internships with companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Internshala, and younity occur in our college. I have done internships with Internshala and younity; they are very good platforms for fresher students and also offer a good stipend.
  • Teachers suggest the best students, and then companies conduct interviews. After college, students receive calls from the company and have the opportunity to join them.
  • PGDAV College, located in Nehru Nagar, is one of the best colleges in the city.
  • The college library contains all varieties of books and is the best place for students to study.
  • I am living in an undergraduate hostel for girls in Mukherjee Nagar. I pay 85,000 rupees per year. I like their food and maintenance services, and they also provide firewalls. Additionally, they celebrate some festivals. It is a good stay.
  • The college in which I am pursuing BSc (Mathematics) Hons is considered one of the best colleges for the Mathematics department in terms of faculty as well as placements.

Dislike

  • Not really, it is a great course, no doubt, but it does not have much value in the job sector.
  • There is average money provided as interns; very few companies were visiting college for placement and internship in our courses like history and political science. No internship is being provided.
  • The placement cell in the college is very bad. Almost all students did not get a job from the placement cell.
  • There are no placements or scholarships in this college, as their management is very bad.
  • There are many programs and fests conducted in colleges, but I personally think that all of them are a waste of time and money. They are not worth it for students who come to college for studies, not for fest parties or clubs.
  • All exam checkers, whether good or bad, are not reliable as I have consistently received poor marks every year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Physics Honors because it's my dream to become an astrophysicist. The faculty of our college is quite good. They have good qualifications and the student-teacher relationship is also healthy. The faculty is always ready to help out students with anything, including studies and other co-curricular activities. Exams are conducted at the end of every semester but the teachers keep taking internal assessments in between. Exams are not so tough for students who keep learning throughout the year.

Remarks:

Well I got admission through the cut-off system. First DU releases the registration forms for which you have to register beforehand. Then when the start releasing the cutoff a list of colleges for which you can apply as per your marks and percentage will be displayed. The courses for which you can apply will also be displayed. But now admissions in DU are through the CUET.

From the start of the 5th semester, students are allowed to intern at various companies. But the students are allowed to take up internships as soon as they join the college. My plans after the degree are to do a master's and then become a teacher.

Remarks:

My admission was done through the CUET exams. The form was filled out on the DU CSAS website with a simple login and document upload. Then I put in all my college and course preferences. some colleges chose me and then I chose the college.

Placement Experience:

From 4 semesters onwards, Students are eligible for campus placements. They can get themselves registered for the campus recruitment cell of their respective college. Every year some 40 to 60 companies use to visit colleges like Load and share, DLF, IDBI Banking, Narrow, DELL, ASUS, HDFC Banking, etc. The highest package offered: 21 lacks per annum. Average package: 7.5 lacs per annum.

Remarks:

Back in 2020, The admission process for undergraduates use to be through merit in 12 boards. Every college use to release its specific cutoff. For my course, UT off was as follows:- GENERAL: 96-98 OBC : 94:93 SC: 90-92 ST: 82-87 Eligibility of course: Just you have to match the cut-off released by the college. You can find the application form and all the details regarding application fees, application dates, and dates of first cut-off on its official website ie.www.du.ac.in. Placement Experience:

Only students from BCom, Economics and Statistics get placed at all. Students are eligible from 3rd year for campus placements there are a lot of companies who came to our college Deloitte Paytm is two of the names. The highest package was around 11 LPA and the average package was around 5.7 LPA. A total of 80% of students get placements. Since there is an extremely low chance to get placement from my course I'm planning to do MBA after college.

Remarks:

I took admitted in the year 2021. So admission process took place by the cutoff method. The admission process was completely online and there were different eligibility criteria and marks considered for different courses. For physical science with chemistry, only marks in Physics, Chemistry and Maths was considered and there was no eligibility criteria accept the fact the student should get passed in all the subject in his 12th. There was no specific admission form for the college but there was a common admission form at delhi university by which you can apply to any college or course in delhi university. Application fees were 100 INR but to change to college in further cutoff we had to pay 1000 INR per action which in my opinion should be reduced.

Swami Shraddhanand College is located on North Campus. Because of its location and management, it cannot be compared to any other DU college. However, when you consider the foundation of a college, namely education and extracurricular activities, in terms of education, SSNC's History Department ranks among the top ten in Delhi University for some specific courses, along with the courses like Microbiology, Life Science, Botany, and Geography, SSNC. Aside from that, there is the well-known Cricket team, which has been a champion for the past decade or so....Read more

Ques. How good is DUs Satyawati College?

● Top Answer By Prajwal Tiwari on 12 Oct 22

Satyawati was a part of the Delhi University campus before it was relocated to Ashok Vihar. When you are admitted to one of the DU colleges, you place a high value on education. There are many amenities in college that other colleges do not have, one of which is the Largest Auditorium at DU. It's a good college with friendly students. The seniors are helpful. There are numerous co-curricular societies to which one can belong. Ragging is prohibited at the college because of the anti-ragging policy. Except for a few, the teachers have extensive experience and training. The building's infrastructure is adequate, and the classrooms are also spacious. There is a fantastic library as well. The canteen is excellent. The ground is in good condition and is well-maintained....Read more

Ques. Is Ramanujan College DU a good choice?

● Top Answer By Mrunal Kapoor on 06 Oct 22

It would be an excellent choice. It became an independent morning college in 2013, and its growth has been phenomenal since then. Ramanujan College has it all: amazing campus life and a fantastic learning environment. NAAC has awarded it a Grade A++ and a GPA of 3.71. According to the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2021, it is also ranked 53rd in the college category, with an overall score of 54.68.  Here are some distinguishing characteristics that set Ramanujan apart from the crowd: Excellent Location: The college is in a prime location in Kalkaji, close to Epicuria, McD, Pizza Hut, Dominoes, and other restaurants. You will never run out of places to party. Societies: This section is the college's true treasure. JAZBA, NSS, DNA, Shivranjani, Tark, TATVA, and other societies have always made the college proud. Experienced Faculty: Friendly and cooperative.  Infrastructure: The building's infrastructure distinguishes it from all other DU colleges. The college has the best infrastructure in DU, with all modern amenities.  Crowd: It's almost a nurturing environment, with seniors eager to assist and juniors willing to collaborate. The college environment is always pumped up with some event, campaign, rally, or other activity that inspires students.  Go ahead and enroll in Ramanujan College if you're interested in that now. You will never be regretful of your choice. You'll be presented with numerous opportunities here; all you have to do is seize them wisely. Ramanujan, as the name implies, has an excellent academic record, but the authorities are extremely strict. You must have a certain percentage of attendance in order to take the semester exam....Read more

Ques. How good is Indraprastha College of DU in reality?

● Top Answer By Sanjana Singh on 10 Oct 22

Seeing hundreds of girls daily can be overwhelming if you attend a co-ed school. But you'll get used to it. Despite its proximity to North Campus, it is no less than an off-campus college. The typical North campus atmosphere is missing. However, Kamla Nagar and GTB Nagar are only a few minutes away by autorickshaw. The college canteen is not that good. It's vegetarian, and the menu isn't particularly appealing. The chole kulche and chaats available outside the college are tasty. Rolls Club, located near the metro station, serves delicious Chilli chicken rolls. The professors, like all other DU colleges, are uninvolved concerning what you do outside of class. However, keep your attendance above 40%, at all costs. There are no language restrictions. If you don't understand something in English, teachers are willing to teach you again in Hindi. Most professors, at least. In a semester, each paper has only two exams. There are no class tests otherwise. There is no AC, only fans. You can go to the library for AC during your free period. The library is phenomenal for a government college. It has three floors with a lift and an online system to determine where books are kept. There is an ICT lab with internet access.  You must make your own college life enjoyable. You will meet many incredible women who will inspire you with their grace, intelligence, courage, speaking abilities, and pure hearts. ...Read more

Ques. Is an MBA from DU worth it?

● Top Answer By Bhoomika Sharma on 06 Oct 22

An MBA from FMS at DU has the same reputation as an MBA from any IIM. You will be surprised to learn that students frequently leave IIM for FMS due to its extremely low fee structure. The Faculty of Management Studies at Delhi University also offers a two-year MBA programme. The college emphasizes practical learning by hosting workshops and internship programmes on a regular basis. FMS Delhi placement ended on a mixed note, with 100% of students receiving job offers. The average salary package was 23.20 LPA, but the highest package dropped from 54 LPA to 48 LPA.  From a batch size of 216, 198 students participated in the process, with the remaining 18 opting out. The most notable achievement for the FMS placement 2019 was an increase in the average salary for female students, which increased to 25.10 LPA from 22.6 LPA previously. DU FMS MBA programmes are among the best in India, with high educational standards and high returns on investment....Read more

Ques. Is it worth doing a BA in economics honors from an average college of DU?

● Top Answer By Pragya Agrawal on 10 Oct 22

Many people believe that college isn't necessary for success in life. No, it does not. But those people are simply not telling the whole story. The amount of struggle you will face without a college degree is 20 times greater than what you will face with a good college degree. Working hard today will make your life easier tomorrow. Any average college isn't worth it unless you're in dire financial need or your family's mental state is unbearable. The hype surrounding DU is unreal. All of those 52 lakh eco packages are overpriced. 5 people out of lakhs may get it; the rest must compete for a 5 lakh job. You should never accept anything less than what you deserve. You can apply for Jamia to enter. You may apply for abroad studies. You can get a fellowship and take a year off. Do whatever it takes to stand out from the crowd and make a better career for yourself....Read more

Ques. Is a BA programme a good course if I do it from DU?

● Top Answer By Prakriti Raina on 12 Oct 22

BA at DU can be BA (Program), BA (Hons), and in Honors, you can take the specialization course in Economics, Political Science, History, English, Hindi, Geography, and so on. Furthermore, if you expect to get a higher percentage in BA courses, you are mistaken. Students at Delhi University typically receive very low grades. The average score is between 51 and 58%. It would not surprise me if someone became a University topper with only 58% of the marks. So, just for the DU brand, choose the BA program and if you want to work in the civil service, you're on the right track. ...Read more

Ques. How is B Tech at DU?

● Top Answer By Asha Negi on 10 Oct 22

Cluster Innovation Center is the only Engineering Programme at the University of Delhi. You will not be studying those pointless first-year subjects that are common in almost every other engineering college. You will only study subjects related to your field.  Information technology and Mathematics are included in the curriculum. Aside from these two, you must choose your second major beginning in the second semester. There are three options: Business and Management, Electronics and Embedded Systems, and Computational Biology.  According to the curriculum, you will be required to complete month-long projects in almost every subject. Aside from that, you must complete a semester-long project in the fourth and sixth semesters. Students are generally not accepted by companies during their first two years of college due to a lack of skills and experience, so they must rely on internships provided by the college, which are of average quality....Read more
