What students say about Delhi University - [DU]

Likes

  • Sports Complex-It is one of the best places in our college with a well equipped gym and basketball court and even a badminton court as well.
  • The infrastructure that the college has in order to provide with best education facilities
  • The faculty is very experienced and knowledgeable and they know what they are teaching
  • Faculties of Delhi University is one of the best faculties of any institute of India
  • Hindu college have the best faculties ever, who supports the student in every means.
  • The societies and clubs are very good and they provide a lot of exposure.
  • Teaching faculty are very experienced and they provide us with best knowledge

Dislike

  • Not really, it is a great course, no doubt, but it does not have much value in the job sector.
  • There is average money provided as interns; very few companies were visiting college for placement and internship in our courses like history and political science. No internship is being provided.
  • The placement cell in the college is very bad. Almost all students did not get a job from the placement cell.
  • There are no placements or scholarships in this college, as their management is very bad.
  • There are many programs and fests conducted in colleges, but I personally think that all of them are a waste of time and money. They are not worth it for students who come to college for studies, not for fest parties or clubs.
  • All exam checkers, whether good or bad, are not reliable as I have consistently received poor marks every year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I am very interested in studying and knowing History, especially Indian History. While our college provides us with enough faculty and our classes are scheduled regularly. All our professors are very highly qualified and hold a doctorate or Ph.D. in their subject of specialization. Exams are conducted very timely according to the academic calendar of our University.

Remarks:

I got admission to the college by appearing in the C.U.E.T. exams after which I registered myself in the portal of Delhi University that CSAS which the university provided me the in Deshbandhu College according to their cutoff criteria of C.U.E.T. scores. I got 666 out of 800 in my C.U.E.T. exams. While the admission process was too long it took more than two months to be completed after the release of C.U.E.T. scores, which must have been shortened for the future student s

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is good and the faculty members are very helpful. Term exams take place timely and were a new experience with the implementation of the NEP. While some things can be changed with the exam procedure, we faced no major problems.

Remarks:

Admission to Delhi University took place according to the CUET (Central University Entrance Test )score. All details were available on the website of the university and on the website of the National Testing Agency.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose university of Delhi because their courses were considered very good for all arts based undergraduate courses and I'm very glad I did. History(Hons.) is a very specialized and important course of the university, although this was not the course that I was hoping to get but instead was hoping for psychology honours but was considered ineligible for it because of my score. University Of Delhi needs one to get a very high score to qualify psychology honours. The student teacher ratio is approximately estimated to be 1:3. The teachers are very highly qualified and get to teach in the college based on years of experience. Shabnam Ma'am and Simi ma'am who have been part of the faculty for approximately 15 years teach Social Formation in Ancient India and History Of Ancient and Medivial India. Majority of the teaching staff are Delhi University graduates themselves and gold medalists too. Exams were conducted regularly and one must have atleast 75? attendance and 4.5 CGPA to pass.

Remarks:

I was admitted into the college thought the CUET exam i.e. Common University Enterance Test which you can write once you have cleared your 12th grade board exams. After applying for CUET through the NTA website (National Testing Agency) if someone is from the general category they must pay an amount of approximately 1300 rupees, post that you have to select the domain subjects, which means that the subjects that one wants to pursue a course in and one must have already passed those subjects already in grade 12 in order to give these exams. Then you get an option of applying for the universities/ colleges, you must choose them courses carefully and then go ahead. I gave the exam in July and August of 2022 and had an average score of 637/800 and applied for University of Delhi through their CSAS form which costed me approximately 250 rupees as from general category and 100 rupees for Reserved Categories. I got admission through the special spot round 1 in December 2022 after waiting.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement is quite average. Student during the second year becomes eligible for campus placement. Quite famous companies like mobiqwik visit the campus. Also, it depends on the student's capabilities rather than the college during campus selection.

Remarks:

If you need to have a preferred cutoff but now cucet is required. Filling out the Application form and Application process was online, you need not go to college. There are benefits of Reservation for OBC, SC, ST and EWC.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose history honours, from beginning I was sure about taking history as my bachelor's degree, history excites me to learn new things, learn about the past and interlink it with the present, history always helps me in personal growth my second thought was that it will help me in my civil services preparation. in my faculty, there is one thing I really love out of 66 students, there is 33 female student which is as equal to the male students, there we found equality in a realistic manner. Here in my college teachers are really good, and teach in a very friendly manner teachers are very helpful they are literally available for us 24/7 ... Exams really stressed us in 1st semester because we were just passed out from school, but gradually exams are now not that hectic, it is really easy to pass if you are reading consistently

Remarks:

My admission got selected on the basis of merit, I found the application form on the delhi University official site, and there is 1%recession for girls in some colleges, also OBC, SC, and ST have some recession compared to the general category

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have a very keen interest in studying our history. I think the faculty is one of the best on the North Campus of Delhi University. All the faculty members are well experienced in their respective fields and the teaching method well suits students of a different caliber. The term exams are well scheduled by the university and exams are of moderate level.

Remarks:

The admission process was quite easy. Application form for Delhi university is easily available on its official website. Application fee ranges from 1500 to 2000 depending on the course and subjects you choose.

Placement Experience:

The campus doesn't provide much of placements. The placement cell is very inactive in this. My plans after this degree are UPSC and Ph.D. Being a humanities student after a bachelor not many options are open for jobs.

Remarks:

The admission process was based on Cut off. Every information was there on the DU website so it was easy. There are no reservation benefits. Yes we saw improvement in the admission process as now entrance exams will take place.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I had a keen interest in its subject matter. DU lacks faculty as compared to the students they take in. The professors are qualified to teach the course however they are not much interested to take classes as they are generally on leave. But this should not be generalized as some professors are genuinely interested in giving students their time. Exams were timely.

Remarks:

Eligibility - 95% in 12th. You can find the application on the website of DU. Admission should be based 50% on 12th results and the rest 50% on CUET as students give their utmost efforts in preparing for their 12 boards however the entrance test has taken its place for admission eligibility which is not fair to their hard work put into the boards. There are more strikes taking place as compared to classes conducted by the professors. The faculty is good. However, more focus is on in-class assessments rather than field trips which do not let students get full exposure while learning.

Ques. How is Swami Shraddhanand College of DU?

● Top Answer By Sherina Phutela on 07 Oct 22

Swami Shraddhanand College is located on North Campus. Because of its location and management, it cannot be compared to any other DU college. However, when you consider the foundation of a college, namely education and extracurricular activities, in terms of education, SSNC's History Department ranks among the top ten in Delhi University for some specific courses, along with the courses like Microbiology, Life Science, Botany, and Geography, SSNC. Aside from that, there is the well-known Cricket team, which has been a champion for the past decade or so....Read more

Ques. How good is DUs Satyawati College?

● Top Answer By Prajwal Tiwari on 12 Oct 22

Satyawati was a part of the Delhi University campus before it was relocated to Ashok Vihar. When you are admitted to one of the DU colleges, you place a high value on education. There are many amenities in college that other colleges do not have, one of which is the Largest Auditorium at DU. It's a good college with friendly students. The seniors are helpful. There are numerous co-curricular societies to which one can belong. Ragging is prohibited at the college because of the anti-ragging policy. Except for a few, the teachers have extensive experience and training. The building's infrastructure is adequate, and the classrooms are also spacious. There is a fantastic library as well. The canteen is excellent. The ground is in good condition and is well-maintained....Read more

Ques. Is Ramanujan College DU a good choice?

● Top Answer By Mrunal Kapoor on 06 Oct 22

It would be an excellent choice. It became an independent morning college in 2013, and its growth has been phenomenal since then. Ramanujan College has it all: amazing campus life and a fantastic learning environment. NAAC has awarded it a Grade A++ and a GPA of 3.71. According to the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2021, it is also ranked 53rd in the college category, with an overall score of 54.68.  Here are some distinguishing characteristics that set Ramanujan apart from the crowd: Excellent Location: The college is in a prime location in Kalkaji, close to Epicuria, McD, Pizza Hut, Dominoes, and other restaurants. You will never run out of places to party. Societies: This section is the college's true treasure. JAZBA, NSS, DNA, Shivranjani, Tark, TATVA, and other societies have always made the college proud. Experienced Faculty: Friendly and cooperative.  Infrastructure: The building's infrastructure distinguishes it from all other DU colleges. The college has the best infrastructure in DU, with all modern amenities.  Crowd: It's almost a nurturing environment, with seniors eager to assist and juniors willing to collaborate. The college environment is always pumped up with some event, campaign, rally, or other activity that inspires students.  Go ahead and enroll in Ramanujan College if you're interested in that now. You will never be regretful of your choice. You'll be presented with numerous opportunities here; all you have to do is seize them wisely. Ramanujan, as the name implies, has an excellent academic record, but the authorities are extremely strict. You must have a certain percentage of attendance in order to take the semester exam....Read more

Ques. How good is Indraprastha College of DU in reality?

● Top Answer By Sanjana Singh on 10 Oct 22

Seeing hundreds of girls daily can be overwhelming if you attend a co-ed school. But you'll get used to it. Despite its proximity to North Campus, it is no less than an off-campus college. The typical North campus atmosphere is missing. However, Kamla Nagar and GTB Nagar are only a few minutes away by autorickshaw. The college canteen is not that good. It's vegetarian, and the menu isn't particularly appealing. The chole kulche and chaats available outside the college are tasty. Rolls Club, located near the metro station, serves delicious Chilli chicken rolls. The professors, like all other DU colleges, are uninvolved concerning what you do outside of class. However, keep your attendance above 40%, at all costs. There are no language restrictions. If you don't understand something in English, teachers are willing to teach you again in Hindi. Most professors, at least. In a semester, each paper has only two exams. There are no class tests otherwise. There is no AC, only fans. You can go to the library for AC during your free period. The library is phenomenal for a government college. It has three floors with a lift and an online system to determine where books are kept. There is an ICT lab with internet access.  You must make your own college life enjoyable. You will meet many incredible women who will inspire you with their grace, intelligence, courage, speaking abilities, and pure hearts. ...Read more

Ques. Is an MBA from DU worth it?

● Top Answer By Bhoomika Sharma on 06 Oct 22

An MBA from FMS at DU has the same reputation as an MBA from any IIM. You will be surprised to learn that students frequently leave IIM for FMS due to its extremely low fee structure. The Faculty of Management Studies at Delhi University also offers a two-year MBA programme. The college emphasizes practical learning by hosting workshops and internship programmes on a regular basis. FMS Delhi placement ended on a mixed note, with 100% of students receiving job offers. The average salary package was 23.20 LPA, but the highest package dropped from 54 LPA to 48 LPA.  From a batch size of 216, 198 students participated in the process, with the remaining 18 opting out. The most notable achievement for the FMS placement 2019 was an increase in the average salary for female students, which increased to 25.10 LPA from 22.6 LPA previously. DU FMS MBA programmes are among the best in India, with high educational standards and high returns on investment....Read more

Ques. Is it worth doing a BA in economics honors from an average college of DU?

● Top Answer By Pragya Agrawal on 10 Oct 22

Many people believe that college isn't necessary for success in life. No, it does not. But those people are simply not telling the whole story. The amount of struggle you will face without a college degree is 20 times greater than what you will face with a good college degree. Working hard today will make your life easier tomorrow. Any average college isn't worth it unless you're in dire financial need or your family's mental state is unbearable. The hype surrounding DU is unreal. All of those 52 lakh eco packages are overpriced. 5 people out of lakhs may get it; the rest must compete for a 5 lakh job. You should never accept anything less than what you deserve. You can apply for Jamia to enter. You may apply for abroad studies. You can get a fellowship and take a year off. Do whatever it takes to stand out from the crowd and make a better career for yourself....Read more

Ques. Is a BA programme a good course if I do it from DU?

● Top Answer By Prakriti Raina on 12 Oct 22

BA at DU can be BA (Program), BA (Hons), and in Honors, you can take the specialization course in Economics, Political Science, History, English, Hindi, Geography, and so on. Furthermore, if you expect to get a higher percentage in BA courses, you are mistaken. Students at Delhi University typically receive very low grades. The average score is between 51 and 58%. It would not surprise me if someone became a University topper with only 58% of the marks. So, just for the DU brand, choose the BA program and if you want to work in the civil service, you're on the right track. ...Read more

Ques. How is B Tech at DU?

● Top Answer By Asha Negi on 10 Oct 22

Cluster Innovation Center is the only Engineering Programme at the University of Delhi. You will not be studying those pointless first-year subjects that are common in almost every other engineering college. You will only study subjects related to your field.  Information technology and Mathematics are included in the curriculum. Aside from these two, you must choose your second major beginning in the second semester. There are three options: Business and Management, Electronics and Embedded Systems, and Computational Biology.  According to the curriculum, you will be required to complete month-long projects in almost every subject. Aside from that, you must complete a semester-long project in the fourth and sixth semesters. Students are generally not accepted by companies during their first two years of college due to a lack of skills and experience, so they must rely on internships provided by the college, which are of average quality....Read more
